The natural river sand contains many impurities like mica, coal, fossils, and many other impurities, the accretion of mentioned impurities, makes the sand useless for concrete work. Digging the sand form riverbed in high quantity, can be dangerous to environment. The deep pits excavate in the riverbed and it effects very badly on ground water level. Government has banned elevating sand from riverbed from some major areas.
